SCORE is a nationwide, non-profit organization dedicated to helping the owners of existing and start-up businesses assure that their businesses grow and prosper.

Small Business Reference Center: a Resource at Your Library

logo_SBRCThe Library offers access to Small Business Reference Center.  This resource offers a wide variety of information on small business and entrepreneurial subject areas, common business types, a help and advice section, and provides information on how to create business plans that lead to successful funding. Small Business Reference Center offers readers a collection of state-specific resources supported with demographic data and other local information.  Completing the database are business videos that provide critical information for business owners including interviews, ‘lessons learned’ features, lectures and ‘how to’ videos to help foster success in all aspects of managing a business.

Plainfield Public Library cardholders are able to access Small Business Reference Center from home.  Cardholders from other libraries are welcome to visit the Library in person and use this resource on one of the public computers.

Online Computer Tutorials — Free Access With Your Library Card

Business owners…Do you need to brush up on your computer skills?  Does your staff need computer training?

One of the Library’s best resources is the recently updated Learning Express Library, an interactive online resource for  improving skills. Popular computer topics include Microsoft Office software, email, social media and computer basics.  The computer tutorials are interactive with video and sound and can be completed at your own pace.  Many are comprehensive with advanced levels as well.

Learning Express Library also offers modules to improve job and workplace skills such as business writing and other basic skills such as math, reading, and public speaking.

Learning Express Library is available on the library computers or Plainfield Public Library cardholders can access this resource from home or work. You will need to create a free new user account with your library card number which will allow you to track your progress and log in/log out at your convenience.
