Plainfield Village (IL) Offers Free Seminars for Business Owners in April and May 2013

The Village of Plainfield, in conjunction with Joliet Junior College and the Illinois Small Business Development Center, is pleased to offer the local business community two FREE seminars.  Join us…

  • On Tuesday, April 23 at 9 am for a seminar on Creating Effective E-mail Marketing for Your Business.
     
  • On Tuesday, May 21 at 9 am for a seminar on Using Social Media to Promote Your Business.

Both of these informative seminars will be conveniently held at Village Hall, 24401 W. Lockport Street, in Downtown Plainfield.  Registration is required and enrollment will be limited.  Please note:  Attendees can register for one or both seminars.

Seminar Descriptions

Creating Effective E-mail Marketing for Your Business (Tuesday, April 23 at 9 am)
E-mail is one of the most effective, and affordable, tools for reaching customers and prospects. During this class, participants will learn to use e-mail marketing to capture peoples’ attention and promote their business. The workshop will demonstrate the e-mail marketing service, MailChimp, but other e-mail marketing tools will also be discussed.  (Seminar is 2 hours.)

Using Social Media to Promote Your Business (Tuesday, May 21 at 9 am)
Social media has proven to be a successful tool for creating “conversations” with customers and promoting a business. During this class, participants will learn effective strategies for using social media to support their business. The workshop will look at the best ways to use a variety of social media tools including Facebook, LinkedIn, Blogger, Flickr, and Pinterest.  (Seminar is 2 hours.)

Instructor Biography

Jay Sternickle works in Joliet Junior College’s Community Education Department and teaches a variety of subjects including photography, writing, graphic design, and web development.  He has a background in public relations and photojournalism and has worked as a writer and editor at several daily and weekly newspapers.  Mr. Sternickle also serves as a website consultant for the Illinois Small Business Development Center at Joliet Junior College.
